Zoller Wine Styling Primitivo Paso Robles 2008 (USA)
Deep, bright ruby red color. The nose is generous with scents of freshly crushed black berries with a big dose of brown spice and black pepper. The palate echoes the nose while being even bigger, bolder, and juicier than the aromatics had suggested. This wine is a hedonistic blast of jammy, berry driven fruit with charm to spare. The only demerit that we discovered was the rather hot, alcohol-centric finish that still was not enough to damper our affections.
Zuccardi Malbec “Q” Mendoza 2007 (Argentina)
Deep, dense ruby red color. The nose is as concentrated in black berry fruits as the color would suggest. Beautifully fragrant and complex with complimenting notes of dark chocolate, allspice, black currants, and sweet oak. The palate is in full agreement with the nose with a vibrant fruit core flanked by brown spices and oak. Nicely proportioned with great structure and length, soft, chewy tannins, and vanilla. A real charmer.
Zuccardi Malbec “Q” Mendoza 2010 (Argentina)
Deep, vibrant ruby red color. The nose is incredibly intense and powerful with scents of crushed black and red berries with plum, and black currants accented by dark chocolate, tamarind, tart cherries, and clove. The palate is in full agreement with the nose delivering an equally dense and chewy complex fruit driven core. A massive wine with impeccable balance and length finishing with soft tannins and a touch of vanilla.
Zuccardi “Zeta” Mendoza 2007 (Argentina)
Deep, darkest garnet red being completely opaque. The nose is wonderfully complex revealing layers of red and black fruits with notes of blueberry, plum, raspberry, red cherry and black berry with accents of earth, mineral, cigar box, vanilla, allspice, nutmeg, and clove. The palate is incredibly dense with waves of ripe and semi-tart fruits flanked by notes of mineral, brown spice, and oak. A real monster of a wine with charm to spare finishing with moderate but well integrated tannins and black currants.
