Santa Cruz Mountain Pinot Noir “Branciforte Creek Vineyard” Santa Cruz Mountains 2008 (USA)

FEATURED

Deep, bright ruby red color. The nose is dense with the aromas of red and black cherries with accents of allspice, green cardamon, mineral, black pepper, leather, and hints of cedar. The palate echoes the nose with a rich fruit core framed by earth, leather, brown baking spices, oak, and black pepper. Ideally balanced with a nice dose of fresh acidity and moderate tannins. This is not your typical California fruit-bomb rather a complex Pinot showing a careful balance of fruit, earth, and spice. A lovely wine that gets better with each hour opened.

Santa Julia Torrontes [+] Mendoza 2010 (Argentina)

FEATURED

Brilliant pale straw color. The nose is amazingly expressive with sweet floral notes in the lead followed by scents of peach, apricot, pineapple, pomelo, and citrus. The palate is more dry and tart than the nose would suggest while still featuring the same fruits and flowers with accents of mineral and lemon zest. Ideally balanced and beautifully proportioned. A charming, “grown-up” version of Torrontés.

Ideally balanced with the fruit, earth, and spice framed by vibrant dose of acidity that is seamlessly knit with the ripe fruit. A very stylish Pinot that is asking to be paired with grilled tenderloin.

Sonnet Chardonnay Columbia Valley 2007 (USA)

FEATURED

Bright straw color. The nose reveals classic Chardonnay scents of ripe apple and pear with tropical notes as well and accents of lychee, vanilla, and citrus. The palate concurs being perhaps a bit more tart than expected with flavors of crisp apple, grapefruit, and pear taking the lead. Ideally balanced with a judicious dose of fresh acid that makes this a very versatile Chardonnay at the dinner table. Pair it with poached salmon, roasted chicken or simply grab a glass, as it is quite refreshing in its natural state.

Brilliant, luminous ruby red color. The nose is fresh with scents of sweet and tart cherries with red currant and hints of mint, tarragon, and subtle notes of earth. The palate concurs with the nose delivering bright, semi-tart cherries with flanking notes of earth, wood, and herbs. Stepping Stone by Cornerstone Cabernet Sauvignon Napa County 2010 (USA)

FEATURED

Deep ruby red color. The nose is rich while restrained with a beautiful combo of ripe juicy fruits with dried berries supported by accents of mineral, dried herbs, brown baking spices, forest floor, and well-integrated oak tones. The palate echoes the nose delivering a complex Old World-styled Cabernet the likes of which we rarely see from Bordeaux anymore. Ideally balanced with great length and moderate tannins. A superb food wine that is built to collaborate with dinner rather than trample it.

Stepping Stone by Cornerstone Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2010 (USA)

FEATURED

Bright ruby red color. The nose is unmistakably Pinot offering a careful balance of sweet and tart berries with accents of earth, mineral, and vanilla. The palate concurs with the aromatics delivering more spice than the nose had hinted with flecks of pepper and clove emerging. Perfectly balanced with soft tannins and incredible length finishing with a last dose of spice and intriguing blood orange notes.
