Quinta Cruz Graciano Mokelumne River 2008 (USA)FEATURED
Dark ruby red color. The nose is fresh and vibrant with the scents of ripe blueberry, raspberry, and violets with accents of nutmeg, chocolate and allspice. The palate echoes the nose delivering layers of silky rich fruit with pretty brown spice compliments. Wonderfully intense while showing a light touch as well with a perfect dose of crisp acidity. Soft tannins with trailing notes of brown spices and dried berries.
Quady Black Muscat “Elysium” California 2007 (USA)
Bright, deep ruby red color. The nose is beautifully floral with sweet notes of ripe fig, dense cherry, and raspberry. The palate echoes the nose being ultra ripe and dense with harmonious notes of cassis and raspberry jam. A lovely dessert wine that begs for a creme brulée.
Quady Muscat “Red Electra” California NV (USA)
Brilliant ruby red color looking like a dark rosé. The nose is filled with scents of sweet spring flowers, wild honey, and bright, fresh aromas of sweet grapes. The palate echoes the nose being sweet while very lively with balancing acidity that keeps this wine sprite and fresh. A real charmer that works great with any fruit based dish and surprisingly well with custards.
Quady Orange Muscat “Essensia” California 2007 (USA)
Brilliant golden orange color. The nose is amazingly playful and complex offering scents of spring flowers, apricot, white peach, honeysuckle, Clementine oranges, and lychee. The palate is in full agreement with the nose being surprisingly zesty and refreshing. Not at all cloying with a long lingering finish that becomes increasingly zesty and filled with dried fruit notes. Terrific!
Quady “Deviation” California NV (USA)
Incredibly deep golden color with touches of orange and amber. The nose is uniquely floral with botanicals being the dessert wine world’s answer to gin. The palate entry is sweet and dense with the flavors of apricot and peach preserves. The palate quickly evolves to its spicy elements becoming drier with notes of lemon zest and ginger accented by a mélange of herbal tea flavors. Wild, complex, and compelling.
Quady “Starboard - Batch 88” California NV (USA)
Deep garnet to brick red color. The nose is wonderfully complex offering scents of dried black fruits, anise, black tea, dark chocolate, and cassis. The palate is in full agreement offering waves of ripe and dried fruits steeped in a dense fruit compote. The waves of fruit are accented by notes of clove, allspice, and nutmeg. Incredibly fresh and lively. Beautiful.
Quinta Cruz Tempranillo San Antonio 2008 (USA)
Deep dark garnet red color. The nose explodes with the scents of freshly crushed ripe black and red berries with accents of cacao, earth, allspice, and hints of sweet oak. The palate echoes the nose delivering a lush and silky core of ripe fruit with flanking notes of earth, spice, and oak. Ideally balanced with great length and depth. Soft, chewy tannins and tart cherries dominate the finish. A tremendous wine being both complex and hedonistic.
Quinta Cruz Touriga San Antonio 2007 (USA)
Super dark being inky, black and nearly opaque. The nose is equally dense and concentrated with scents of freshly crushed black berries, wild flowers, fresh herbs, heather, mocha, and oak. The palate is just as hearty with layers of ripe and dried berry fruit, spice, earth, and oak. Wonderfully balanced and framed by fresh acidity and thick tannins. It is rare to find a wine that is both incredibly jammy and earthy. A super wine to pair with rich, complex winter dishes.
Quinta Cruz Verdelho Alta Mesa 2009 (USA)
Brilliant pale golden color. The nose is very expressive offering scents of apricot, white peach, tangerine and green melon with accents of spring flowers, mineral, and hints of candied ginger. The palate concurs with the nose offering substantial flavors as well as vibrancy and incredible balance. Step aside homogeneous New World whites, this is the greatest California Verdelho that we have seen. Bravo!
Quinta Cruz “Concertina” San Antonio 2007 (USA)
Super dark and dense being opaque. The nose reveals great complexity with scents of herbs and spice equaling the dense berry and cherry fruit notes. The palate fully concurs offering waves of sweet and tart berries with accents of fennel, sandalwood, brown spices, and oak. This is an extremely interesting and pleasing wine that refuses to be put in any well established “style.” We picture this wine with grilled game and sausages.
