Insatiable Wines Cabernet Sauvignon California 2007 (USA)
Bright ruby to garnet red color. The nose is perhaps a bit odd and fractured. Scents of fresh cut grass, dill, and currants fill the nose. The palate is tart and quite herbaceous with a burst of fruit that quickly fades to herbs and mineral notes. Pleasing enough and likely great with assertive BBQ sauces and such.
Insatiable Wines Chardonnay California 2008 (USA)
Brilliant, pale straw color. The nose is subtle with scents of pear and apple coming through. The palate is also rather light with a dose of pithiness with flavors of green melon, and Granny Smith apple skin. A fresh style is best suited for summer refreshment.
Insatiable Wines Merlot California 2007 (USA)
Bright ruby to cherry red color. The aromas immediately jump from the glass. Scents of red and black cherry with a generous dose of fresh basil fill the nose with accents of mineral, mint, and red currant. The palate is in full agreement delivering fresh, ripe fruit with compliments of fresh herbs and a dash of brown spice; ideally balanced. A lot of Merlot for the money. Super and very versatile working well with tomato dishes and roasted chicken. A Best Buy.
Insatiable Wines Petite Sirah California 2005 (USA)
Deep garnet red color. The nose reveals a super ripe and jammy fruit core with accents of brown spices, mineral, and dried berries. The palate concurs being a bit more austere than the nose would lead you to believe. Great balance and very focused as it trails toward an earth driven finish with flavors of fresh cut herbs. A Best Buy.
Insatiable Wines Red Wine California NV (USA)
Bright ruby red color. The nose is fruit driven but more stylish and refined than you would anticipate from a value wine. Scents of ripe and dried cherry dominate with a complex mélange of accenting aromatics including black currant, wild berries, cocoa, and black pepper. The palate confirms the aromatics being fresh and ideally balanced with great length. We were very pleased to find that this was more than just a pretty face. A Best Buy.
Insatiable Wines White Wine California NV (USA)
Crystal clear, pale straw color. The aromatics are wonderfully fresh and pure. Scents of green and red apples, with pear, peach, green melon, spring flowers, grapefruit, and guava. The palate concurs, delivering waves of fresh fruit with balancing acidity. Lovely and versatile working best, in our view, as an aperitif needing nothing more than a glass. Wonderful. A Best Buy.
Ironstone Cabernet Franc California 2007 (USA)
Brick, earthy, rustic red color. The nose is dominated by an austere minerality and dried black berry note. The palate is far more generous offering ripe, freshly crushed berries with flanking semi-tart earth and spice accents. A bit one dimensional with faint trailing sweet blackberry jam and vanilla notes.
Ironstone Cabernet Franc Lodi 2008 (USA)
Deep ruby red color. The nose is dense with dried berries, herbs, and a generous dose of mineral. The palate offer more ripe fruits, led by blackberry, that offer balance to the austere, dried herb, and earth flavors.
Ironstone Cabernet Franc “Reserve” Sierra Foothills 2006 (USA)
Deep, dark, dense ruby red color. The nose is dominated by dried dark fruits with heavy accents of earth and wood. The palate delivers on the promise of the nose being quite dry especially with the heavy dose of black tea astringency. Big and bold while austere and mineral tinged. Ideal with a well-marbled steak.
Ironstone Cabernet Franc “Reserve” Sierra Foothills 2007 (USA)
Deep, dark, ruby red color. The nose is robust but not as hefty as one would expect when observing the 15% alcohol strength. Freshly crushed black and red berries with dried fruits dominate the nose and palate with accents of oak, earth, and brown spices. It finishes quite dry with a lengthy tannin impression that dries the mouth like strong black tea. A bold wine.
