XXX SHINE White American Whiskey (USA); 44.4% abv (USA)
Brilliant, crystal clear. The nose is filled with the scents of raw corn spirit and grain house with accents of talc and pure ethanol. The first tasting shows a round and semi-rich entry that envelopes more angular notes within. After airing for a few minutes this spirit becomes increasingly disjointed and coarse. This unaged spirit brings to mind Sonny performing without the rich and silky tones of Cher. White dog is a great curiosity but when it sells for the same asking price as skillfully aged Bourbon we will take a pass.
