Glenfarclas 12 yr old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Scotland); 43% abv (Scotland)FEATURED
Bright amber color. The nose is dense with scents of rich fruitcake, caramel, Sherry, roasted walnuts, toffee, and ginger biscuits. The palate echoes the nose delivering waves of decadent fruit, spice, and malt with a generous dose of sweet Sherry. A real gem with much more depth and style than many of its 12-year-old peers. Simply beautiful and hedonistic.
Glenfarclas 17 yr old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Scotland); 43% abv (Scotland)FEATURED
Deep golden to amber color. Rich and complex aromas of dried apricots, figs, roasted nuts, toffee, and a generous dose of Sherry leap from the glass. The palate is a natural extension of the aromatic profile revealing further dimensions of marzipan, sweet black currants, allspice, and hints of clove. Perfectly proportioned with hedonistic pleasure and style. A near perfect Whisky with incredibly broad appeal causing confirmed Whisky skeptics to swoon. Tremendous!
Grand Marnier Cherry (France); 40% abv (France)FEATURED
Brilliant and translucent garnet red color. The nose is simply amazing with ripe, brandied cherries joining the classic GM aromas with accents of blood orange, tangerine peel, and subtle hints of cardamon, allspice, and vanilla. On the palate the lush cherry notes take great prominence utilizing the complex orange notes in an integral supporting role. Ideally balanced with the decadent sweet fruit notes being foiled by brown baking spice, orange zest, and toasted oak accents. A beautiful addition to the GM family.
Greenore Single Grain 18 yr old Irish Whiskey (Ireland); 46% abv (Ireland)FEATURED
Brilliant golden color. The nose is simply beautiful with scents of butterscotch, caramel, nougat, and vanilla with accents of orange peel, honey and sweet toasted grains. The palate is in full agreement adding a healthy dose of spice the mid-palate that is soon swept away by more lush grain and toffee notes with subtle hints of campfire, black pepper, and cardamon. A lovely dram and by far the best Greenore offering to date.
G-Vine Gin (France); 40% abv (France)
First, the package is very sharp. Oddly, the nose is true to the lime green top offering scents of fresh lime with zest, faint herbs, crisp white wine, and mineral notes. The palate is fat, and oily evident of the pot still method used to create the base Spirit. Not your typical Gin. It’s very citrus driven begging for Gin & tonic hour.
G-Vine “Nouaison” Gin (France); 43.9% abv (France)
Brilliant crystal clear. The nose is quite unique showing a strong homage to brown baking spices with cinnamon and allspice taking the lead supported by semi-sweet lime notes, pine needles, and a juniper flourish. The palate is in full agreement as this rogue Gin bucks the juniper mold and showcases baking spices and soft citrus flavors delivered on a silky, pillowed texture. A wonderfully intriguing Spirit.
George Dickel “No. 12” Tennessee Whiskey (USA); 45% abv (USA)
Deep bronze color. Unctuous while spicy on the nose offering scents of wild flowers, clove, and lavender. Medium-bodied, with the palate confirming much of the nose with a faint addition of cigar box and sour apple juice. Finishes clean with with a grainy, biscuit note.
Gilbeys ‘London Dry’ Gin (USA); 40% abv (USA)
Very citrusy, faintly juniper and piney. The palate is subtle, fresh and juniper focused with a citrus edge and a good deal of acid. A subtle London Dry style ideal for G&T, but best not used as a solo performer.
Given Liqueur (France); 17% abv (France)
Brilliant golden/green color. The nose is oh-so intriguing with sweet and tart lime notes in the lead supported by a melange of exotic fruits akin to walking through a Singapore open air market. The first sip reveals a surprisingly tart and complex spirit that evolves into a multilayered liqueur with bright citrus notes and waves of tropical fruits framed in a generous portion of vibrant citrus acid. This is a liqueur like no other and will hopefully inspire others to create richly flavored concoctions with balance and verve, Bravo!
Glenburgie Duncan Taylor Bottling "Cask #6753" 1968 34 yr old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Scotland); 45.7% abv (Scotland)
Rich, sweet with soft malt and honey coating every hunk of peat and wood. A massive and chewy texture. Loads of heather and caramel with a soft, lingering finish that summarizes this malts story beautifully. Not the best known distillery on the block but if you seek quality this is your malt.
